Day 1
Fly to Calgary
Arrive in Calgary, picking up your rental car and heading to your first hotel for the start of your family holiday
Day 2
Calgary to Kananaskis (53 miles)
Take a leisurely drive to the Kananaskis Valley in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, a beautiful spot for a couple of nights stay near the scenic Kananaskis River. Described as Alberta's mountain playground, you will find plenty of activities for all of the family including white-water rafting, mountain biking, fishing, horse riding, golf and hiking.
Day 3
Kananaskis
Enjoy a full day in the great outdoors, exploring the trails by bike or on foot, or head for the river for kayaking and paddle-boarding.
Day 4
Kananaskis to Banff (27 miles)
It's just a short drive to Banff, so you can either spend the morning in Kananaskis or head for a full day of fun in the wonderful mountain town of Banff. Here you should take the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain to enjoy the spectacular views of the national park. There are plenty of outdoor pursuits to keep all ages entertained and you can spend the evening exploring this charming town.
Day 5
Banff
A full day to enjoy the delights of Banff, either exploring by mountain bike or horse, or perhaps take a trip to Lake Minnewanka for a cruise around this picturesque lake.
Day 6
Banff to Jasper (179 miles)
Today will be your most memorable road trip - Route 93 is renowned as one of the most spectacular drives in North America. The highlight is Lake Louise - one of the most photographed lakes in the world and for good reason, as the mountains rise majestically above it's turquoise waters. You'll be driving through the Banff National Park, the Yoho National Park, through stunning mountain scenery. Another must-see stopping point is the Icefields Parkway visitors centre where you can book an excursion taking you onto the Athabasca Glacier and the Glacier Sky Walk. We can pre-book this for you.
Day 7
Jasper
You have the day to explore Jasper and this stunning national park. You can go on the Jasper Tramway for an amazing view of the town and mountains and all ages will love a boat ride on the picturesque Moraine Lake.Spend the evening trying out on of the many restaurants, there's a great choice of pizzerias, grills and pubs.
Day 8
Jasper to Sun Peaks (279 miles)
It's a longer drive today but with the route taking you past Mount Robson (the highest peak in the Rockies) and skirting Wells Gray Provincial Park, you will have plenty of sights to admire on the way to British Columbia and the mountain resort of Sun Peaks where you will find a warm welcome.
Day 9
Sun Peaks to Harrison Hot Springs (187 miles)
Travel south through British Columbia to Harrison Lake and the resort of Harrison Hot Springs. Spend time here enjoying the activities on and around the lake, including trying out the hot-spring-fed mineral pools, each kept at a different temperature.
Day 10
Harrison Hot Springs
A day to enjoy on the lake, perhaps zip around on a jet ski, idle close to nature on a kayak or have some laughs on a bumper boat - all activities bookable at the marina next to your hotel. A fun place for all ages.
Day 11
Harrison Hot Springs to Victoria (136 miles)
Today drive over to the coast to pick up the ferry at Tsawwassen for a picturesque hour and a half crossing to Swatz Bay. Then it's just a half hour drive to the capital of British Columbia - Victoria - also know as the Garden City of BC because of it's beautiful parks and botanical gardens. This is a lovely city to stroll and admire the majestic parliament buildings, but you can also book a whale-spotting cruise for this afternoon
Day 12
Victoria to Vancouver (72 miles)
It's the final leg of your journey, returning to the mainland by a different route along the beautiful coast of Vancouver Island to Nanaimo where you'll take the ferry over to Horseshoe Bay. It's just a short hop to the city of Vancouver, where you'll enjoy your final two nights.
Day 13
Vancouver
Enjoy a day exploring Vancouver, and there are many different ways to do this. You can take your own time and explore independently, or perhaps book a walking tour or a foodie tour. There are also bike and Segway tours, so you choose the best option for your family. Enjoy a farewell to Canada dinner in one of the cities many restaurants.
Day 14
It's time to drive to the airport and fly home
