Only an hour and a half drive from Toronto, you wouldn’t believe that this beautiful countryside resort was so close to the bustling city. A charming working farm nestled along Rice Lake, Elmhirst’s Resort is a family-run gem, much-loved by our Canadian Sky team.
Unique and inviting, the resort is perfect for those hoping for a slow-paced escape and wonderful outdoor pursuits, including paddle boarding, kayaking and water tubing. As the owner is a pilot, there’s the chance to enjoy a stunning scenic flight on board their own private plane, taking you across vibrant landscape. Perhaps you want to stay on the ground – if so, grab a bike and cycle along the winding trails, or take a dip in the indoor or outdoor pool.
There are only 30 cottages perched on the banks of the lake, ranging from one to five bedrooms and all boasting a lovely decking area that leads out to the water. The cottages are cosy and evoke a home-away-from-home feel, featuring a living room, a kitchenette, en-suite bedrooms and a barbecue. Huge floor-to-ceiling glass doors brings the outdoors in, with superb views of the naturally beautiful surrounds.
With home-grown produce and their own animals, Elmhirst’s Resort offers the epitome of farm-to-table cuisine. Venture to Wild Blue Yonder Pub & Patio and treat yourself to a divine cut of steak, or you could have your own BBQ in the comfort of your self-catered cottage.
